Mei, a clumsy human girl, inherits a latent form of the Emerald Sight—the ability to see the world’s magical energy. She leaves her isolated village to seek the legendary Old Brother Bao, an ancient giant panda rumored to possess the true, mastered Panda Vision. Together, they must race to stop a magical petrification blight.
Mei learns of the legend of Brother Bao, the ancient panda hermit rumored to live in the deepest Emerald Grove and possess the legendary Panda Vision. She resolves to find him, taking the uncharged Heartwood Arrow artifact as her only hope.
Mei finds Brother Bao in a hidden grove. The panda is slow, sleepy, and initially unimpressed by her. Bao agrees to teach Mei the true Panda Vision, but only if she can complete a challenge to prove her strength and courage.
